The Technical Leadership Team at South Delta United Soccer Club is the cornerstone of our athletic programming and player development. This team, comprised of experienced coaches and sports professionals, is dedicated to advancing the technical skills of our players while nurturing a love for the game. They design and implement training programs that not only enhance performance but also instill sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect. Their expertise ensures that all players, regardless of their skill level, receive top-notch coaching tailored to help them succeed both on and off the pitch.
And of course, behind every successful soccer season is our dedicated Club Administrator who ensures smooth day-to-day operations. Supporting both the Technical Leadership Team and the Board of Directors, she handles all administrative tasks with precision, keeping the club organized and running efficiently so that our players, families, and coaches can focus on the game.

Adam Day
DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL
Adam Day joined South Delta United in August 2024, bringing a wealth of soccer knowledge and experience from local, national, and international levels. A native of London, U.K., Adam has both extensive playing and coaching experience across several countries.
Adam's playing career took him to esteemed clubs, including Charlton Athletic and AFC Bournemouth. He also had the opportunity to play in the USA at the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma and in Greece, adding a global perspective to his experience.
Adam's coaching journey began in 2003 with the English club Charlton FC. Since then, he has achieved significant milestones, coaching Surrey United’s BC Soccer Premier League team, serving as the Director of Coaching for Guildford Athletic Club, and contributing to the Canadian Women’s National Team's historic gold medal win at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Adam has also served as the U17 Academy Head Coach at Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Head Coach at FC Tigers, a semi-professional men's team, and maintains an assistant coach position with the Welsh Women’s National Team. He holds a UEFA A coaching license, the elite formation coaching license (EFCL) from the French Football Federation, and the FFF and CSA Child’s Coaching License. Additionally, he has a BSc Degree in Physical Education.
Adam’s international experience in Europe and North America, combined with his dedication to player development, makes him a valuable asset to South Delta United.

Chris Cerroni
HEAD OF COACHING
Chris Cerroni is an accomplished soccer professional originally from London, England. His early playing career saw him rise through the ranks of Charlton Athletic FC, where he played for the youth and reserve teams in the English Premier League. After his time with Charlton, Chris earned a soccer scholarship to Rollins College in Orlando, USA. There, he achieved All-American honors and was inducted into the Rollins College Sports Hall of Fame.
Chris also represented Great Britain in soccer at the World University Games, competing in Bangkok, Thailand, and Belgrade, Serbia. His playing career extended internationally, with brief professional stints in the USA and the Faroe Islands, Denmark.
He holds a Master’s degree in Sports Performance Coaching and a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication. He is a UEFA 'A' licensed coach, a UEFA 'A' Youth licensed coach, and a trained Canada Soccer Coach Educator. With over 15 years of experience in the soccer ecosystem, Chris has held key roles with Canada Soccer, the British Columbia Soccer Association, Major League Soccer, and several community-level organizations.
Now residing in Coquitlam, Chris is the lead consultant for Football First Consultancy, where he specializes in player and coach development. He is also a proud father of three young children who are actively involved in sports, particularly soccer.
Chris is excited to support the club with its new technical vision led by Adam Day. His focus will be on delivering coach and player development programming, including formal coach education as well as the player development academy.

Kristin Biro joined the SDU team prior to the start of our 2024-25 fall/winter season! Kristin brings with her 20 years of experience in coordinating soccer programs across various youth sports clubs, including Coastal FC, Cliff Avenue FC, and most recently, Richmond United FC.
Her extensive background and passion for youth soccer make her an invaluable addition to our team.

DYLAN ACHESON
HEAD OF REFEREEING
Dylan grew up in Tsawwassen, where his love for soccer began as a youth player with the Tsawwassen Soccer Club. With over 20 years of playing experience, Dylan transitioned into officiating and has now been a dedicated referee for nearly 7 years, covering games across college, men’s, women’s, and youth levels. Professionally, he brings over 8 years of experience in Soccer Development with the Vancouver Whitecaps, which has deepened his commitment to nurturing the growth and development of young referees.
As SDU's Head Referee, Dylan is passionate about mentoring the next generation and equipping them with skills to succeed both on and off the field. He is committed to expanding the SDU referee program by leading regular education sessions that go beyond standard training, covering essential topics like emotional intelligence to handling challenging situations. Dylan wants to see his referees succeed at all levels and believes in nurturing his SDU team while providing a pathway for those ready to excel at higher levels.

HELMUT WIEBE
HEAD GOALKEEPER COACH
Helmut was born and raised in Paraguay, where he developed a deep love for futbol at the age of 5. Over a decade-long playing career, he competed in the Paraguay Interior League (UFI) and the National Championship of Interleagues for various clubs before immigrating to Canada. Fluent in German, Spanish, and English, Helmut uses his language skills to connect with players from diverse backgrounds and enhance their development both on and off the field.
As a coach, Helmut’s favourite aspect is seeing players improve and grow in skill, talent, and sportsmanship. His coaching philosophy focuses on creating a learning environment that is both challenging and enjoyable. Known for advancing players to the next level, Helmut helps them reach their full potential while having fun.
With over two decades of experience in goalkeeping development, Helmut currently serves as Head of Goalkeeper Development for South Delta United (since 2016). He previously held key roles as Head Goalkeeping Coach at Coastal FC (2019–2024), Goalkeeper Coach for Coastal FC’s BCSPL program (2011–2016), and Lead Goalkeeping Coach at Tsawwassen Soccer Club (2007–2016). He also coached at the Whitecaps FC ‘Goalkeeper Pro Series’ camps from 2014 to 2019. Additionally, since 2001, Helmut has run his own training program, Helmut Wiebe Goalkeeping, bringing a wealth of expertise to his players.
Helmut holds a Canada Soccer C Licence, a BC Soccer Goalkeeper Diploma, and the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Coach Diploma (Levels 1, 2, 3), demonstrating his commitment to ongoing education and excellence in coaching.

ALI ZOHAR
STAFF COACH - GRASSROOTS & ACADEMY
Coach Ali’s journey in soccer began at age 10 after coming to Canada as a refugee. His talent and dedication led him to play at a Professional Academy and represent Canada at various youth levels. Over his career, he’s had the privilege of playing alongside and learning from some of the country’s best players and coaches, a journey that has shaped his passion for the game and for coaching.
Ali’s playing pathway showcases his incredible work ethic and skill: he began in Bronze, Silver, and Gold leagues with BC Tiger, Surrey FC, and CCB, quickly advancing to play for Coastal FC and Surrey United in the BCSPL and with the BC provincial team. His exceptional performance earned him a spot with Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the Canadian Youth National Team, where he spent over five years. Ali also played NCAA Division I and II soccer on a full scholarship in the U.S., gaining invaluable experience at a highly competitive level. He currently competes in League1 BC with TSS Rovers, demonstrating his continued commitment to the game.
Beyond his playing career, Ali has been coaching for over five years, working with clubs across British Columbia and leading both 1-on-1 and group sessions. With a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Simon Fraser University, where he was a student-athlete, Ali combines his knowledge, experience, and education to inspire young players to elevate their game. His goal is to share his journey and passion, helping the next generation reach their full potential and compete at the highest level.

ROB DATILLO
STAFF COACH - GRASSROOTS & ACADEMY
Born at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver and raised in Burnaby in a first-generation immigrant home, Rob Dattilo’s soccer journey began on the gravel fields at Confederation Park with Norburn Soccer Club. Now a proud Ladner resident for the past 16 years, Rob brings a lifetime of soccer experience to South Delta United.
As a youth player, Rob competed with clubs in Burnaby and Vancouver, thriving under the mentorship of Georgio Zambrano in Vancouver’s competitive soccer scene. Post-graduation, he played with the Capilano College Blues and spent time in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League (VMSL) with Norvan.
Rob’s coaching career spans over 22 years, starting in 2002 with a women’s team. From there, he took on roles at TSS Academy, where he developed as a coach under the guidance of experienced mentors, eventually stepping into leadership positions. Other coaching experiences include a short stint supporting Langara College’s Men’s Program and serving as a Technical Director, Executive Director, Operations Manager, and Director of Coaching across various organizations. Now, as a staff coach at SDU, Rob focuses on supporting U5-U9 groups, helping coaches refine and deliver sessions aligned with the club’s technical plan and philosophy.
Rob’s coaching philosophy emphasizes technical refinement and patience in player development. Believing that “you need a degree of competency before progressing,” he approaches soccer like teaching math—step-by-step, building skills logically and methodically. By focusing on technique, skill-building, and game concepts, Rob fosters an environment where players can be challenged, achieve success, and develop a love for the game.
Passionate about the relationships formed through soccer, Rob values his role as a mentor, leader, and teacher. For him, the game is not just a sport but a way to inspire, teach, and experience the human spirit and competition—all while having a bit of fun and staying out of the house!

MADDIE HUNG
STAFF COACH - GRASS ROOTS & ACADEMY
Maddie started playing soccer at the age of 5 in South Surrey. During her youth career, she competed at Div 1 and BCHPL levels, earning two provincial titles and numerous other medals with her Div 1 team. Her time on the field was marked by incredible friendships and a deep love for the game, which she now brings to her coaching.
Maddie began her coaching journey as a volunteer coach for a U12 girls team at Coastal FC during the 2022/23 season. This past summer, she joined SDU as a summer camp coach, a role that launched her current coaching position with the club. She now works with players from U5 to U15, sharing her experiences as a well-rounded player and supporting their technical development.
Maddie’s coaching philosophy centers on helping players fall in love with the game. She loves coaching because it allows her to stay connected to the sport she’s passionate about while sharing her knowledge to help young players grow and improve. Through her work, Maddie hopes to inspire the next generation to become not only better players but also lifelong fans of the beautiful game.

PETER SCHAAD
STAFF COACH
Growing up in Vancouver and playing with the Dunbar Soccer Association, Peter proclaimed at age 13 that he aspired to be the Vancouver Whitecaps' play-by-play broadcaster. He achieved that dream in 2005 and held the post on radio and television until 2021. Today, he hosts a popular YouTube podcast, “The Holy Trinity Show”, dedicated to his lifelong passion for Aston Villa, where he shares insights, interviews, and commentary on the club and the beautiful game.
Having had a negative coaching experience as a teenager, Peter sought specialized training through BC Soccer’s Shawnigan Lake Academy, where he spent four summers learning all aspects of the game, including goalkeeping, coaching, and refereeing. It was during this time that he developed a fascination with coaching. Ironically, he later worked for the Provincial Association from 2018 to 2023 as the Marketing and Communications Officer.
Since 1987, Peter has coached in various districts across the province as he pursued his broadcasting career. Clubs he worked with include the Alberni Valley Soccer Association, Gorge FC, the Lower Island Selects Program, Prospect Lake/Cordova Bay, Marpole, and South Delta United.
One of his proudest achievements was leading the Kitsilano Blue Demons to the 2008 AAA Provincial Final, where they finished as runners-up to Handsworth—the highest finish ever for a boys’ team in the school’s history.
Peter’s philosophy in youth coaching is to inspire players to love the game while embracing challenges, just as coaches should continuously learn and seek mentorship. Under the highly credentialed leadership of Adam Day and Chris Cerroni, Peter believes South Delta United is in excellent hands. Having volunteered with SDU since 2015, he earned his Canada Soccer “C Licence” in 2019 and is thrilled to be part of the club’s coaching staff.

Mohsen Hatamian
STAFF COACH- GRASSROOTS & ACADEMY
Mohsen Hatamian brings years of playing and coaching experience, along with a lifelong passion for the game. He has worked with various soccer clubs, focusing on player and team development across all ages and levels. His coaching background includes player evaluation, team coaching, and high-performance training. Over the years, he has coached U14 and U16 teams in Vancouver, Surrey, and Delta. In 2009, he served as the head coach for the men’s soccer team at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and more recently, he coached two women’s teams at NSGSC.
As a player, Mohsen competed for over 40 years, including 15 years at an advanced level in Iran, Montreal (Major Division), and Vancouver. He holds a CSA ‘B’ Provincial license and, outside of soccer, enjoys running marathons.
For Mohsen, coaching is about more than just tactics—it’s about instilling a love for the game, developing confidence, and guiding players to reach their full potential. His goal is to create an environment where every player can improve, enjoy the process, and carry their passion for soccer throughout their lives.

Melissa Beaupre
STAFF COACH- ACADEMY
Raised in Ladner and now living in Tsawwassen with her husband and two daughters, Melissa Beaupre has been immersed in soccer since the age of 5. She played at the collegiate level while pursuing a degree in sports science and later transitioned to playing premier women's soccer, remaining actively involved in women's soccer to this day.
Melissa has been running soccer camps and community multi-sport programs for children since her early twenties. Over the past eight years, she has been coaching for South Delta United, focusing primarily on girls' teams and contributing to other community sports organizations.
Currently, Melissa leads sessions for SDU's Monday night academy and coaches weekly sessions at Dugald, working closely with the girls' teams. This year, she is also volunteering with the Division 2 - 2012 girls team, further showcasing her dedication to youth development in the community.
Professionally, Melissa works as an Educational Assistant in Delta, bringing significant experience in education and behavior management. She thrives on creating connections and fostering a positive, inclusive playing environment where children feel valued and supported. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes empowering girls through comfort, visibility, and positive reinforcement, allowing them to thrive as both athletes and individuals.
For Melissa, the most rewarding part of coaching is witnessing the pride and happiness on children’s faces when they accomplish something they are proud of. Their joy and excitement at the end of a session are what make coaching truly fulfilling.

JEFF HODGSON
STAFF COACH- ACADEMY
Jeff Hodgson grew up in Vancouver, where he honed his skills through the metro leagues and provincial programs. He went on to play for the UBC Thunderbirds Varsity Soccer Program, earning Academic All-Canadian honors for his excellence both on the field and in the classroom. Over the years, Jeff has played for teams such as Delta FC in the VMSL, PCOV, and Westside. He continues to compete in the Men’s Premier division in the Over-35 category, showcasing his enduring passion for the game.
Jeff holds an impressive array of certifications, including a 'B Provincial' license from the Canadian Soccer Association, an 'Advanced National' diploma from the NSCAA, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist designation with NSCA. Additionally, he is First Aid certified and holds a degree in kinesiology, a teaching degree, and a master’s in “coaching science.”
Jeff’s coaching experience spans grassroots to university and national team roles. He has worked with the Whitecaps Elite Academy Program and served as Head Coach for multiple BCSPL teams, including the 1998 and 1999 Mountain FC girls and the Fusion 2000s group—all provincial champions. He also gained valuable experience with Canada’s U-17 Men’s National Team, where he served as Manager, fostering the growth of young athletes in both coaching and administrative capacities.
As a coach, Jeff specializes in finishing and attacking concepts, drawing from his own playing experience as an offensively minded player. He believes in developing fundamental movement skills and technical proficiency, encouraging players to master the ball and express their creativity.
With his strong background as an educator and coach, Jeff is motivated by the opportunity to provide enriching and challenging environments that help students and athletes achieve their full potential.

Saman M. Parsi
STAFF COACH- ACADEMY
Born and raised in Yazd, Persia, Saman M. Parsi’s journey in football began on dirt fields at the age of 8. His passion for the game deepened when his father enrolled him and his brothers in a professional football academy at the age of 12, where he trained as a goalkeeper on grass fields.
Saman’s playing career saw him progress from the beginner level to the pre-senior stages, with professional training three times a week and participation in regular tournaments. Competing in youth, junior, and under-23 categories, he achieved multiple provincial championship titles.
As a coach, Saman has embraced the opportunity to share his passion and expertise with young players in Canada, coaching with clubs like BFC and South Delta United. While his passion lies in goalkeeping, his experience working with players in various positions has fostered a love for teaching all aspects of the game.
Saman’s coaching philosophy is rooted in creating a positive, supportive, and growth-oriented environment. He prioritizes both skill development and personal growth, ensuring players not only improve technically and tactically but also grow as individuals.
Currently, Saman works as a grassroots coach, assistant coach for the U18 international team, and staff coach at South Delta United. Coaching holds a special place in his heart as it allows him to positively impact the lives of young players both on and off the field.

Jeff Skinner
STAFF COACH- ACADEMY
Jeff Skinner has been kicking a soccer ball since he could walk, developing a deep love for the beautiful game from an early age. Raised in North Delta, he began playing youth soccer and climbed the ranks to represent B.C.'s Provincial teams.
One of the most defining moments in Jeff’s soccer journey came when he was cut from his first Provincial team tryout. While difficult at the time, it motivated him to work harder and grow from the experience. The following year, his determination paid off as he earned a spot on the Provincial team and was invited to train at the National High Performance Centre. This set the stage for an impressive career representing Canada on the international stage.
Jeff played for Canada’s Under-20 National Team, winning gold at the Concacaf U-20 World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Mexico. The following year, he competed in the FIFA U-21 World Cup in Malaysia, where the team advanced out of the group stage before facing Spain in the knockout round. He went on to represent Canada in the Pan American Games and was a proud member of the Canadian Under-23 Olympic Team.
At the collegiate level, Jeff played for the UBC Thunderbirds, where he earned a degree in human kinetics, before embarking on a seven-year professional career with the Vancouver 86ers and Vancouver Whitecaps. In recognition of his contributions to the sport, Jeff was inducted into the Delta Sports Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2022.
For nearly 30 years, Jeff has been coaching at various levels across the Lower Mainland. He takes great joy in giving back to the sport that has provided him with lifelong friendships, incredible experiences, and opportunities to travel and grow. Jeff thrives on sharing his love for soccer with the next generation of players, helping them build their own memorable journeys in the game. (And yes, he’s still “29” at heart!)

Sean Cassidy
STAFF COACH - ACADEMY
Born and raised in Ladner, Sean Cassidy has spent most of his life in the community where his soccer journey began. Inspired by his father, who had him kicking a ball shortly after learning to walk, Sean joined the local soccer club at the age of 5.
As a player, Sean started at the silver level in Ladner before seeking a new challenge with Peace Arch United, where he played at Gold and Metro levels. Competing with one of the top clubs, his teams finished first in the league for three consecutive years. Sean was also a member of TSS Academy and went on to compete in the VMSL Division 1 with South Delta Royals and the VISL Division 1 with Gorge FC. While pursuing his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in Australia, Sean continued his soccer journey with Bond University. He still enjoys the game today, participating in local drop-in matches.
This is Sean’s second year coaching at South Delta United, where he works as an academy coach with the U8/U9 age group. His coaching philosophy emphasizes teaching young players the fundamentals of the game in a fun and engaging environment.
Sean’s love for soccer and his desire to give back to his local community inspire him to continue coaching. By sharing his passion for the game, he hopes to help the next generation of players build their skills and develop their love for soccer.
